You can reach us:
by plane: The internation airport closest to Göttingen is Hannover, however Frankfurt (Main) will be a more convenient and cheaper option for most travellers. It is connected by high speed train to Göttingen, which takes only about 2 hours.
by train: Göttingen can be easily reached by the high speed train ICE. Find your connection here [en] / [de].
Once at the train station station, take the exit to "Zentrum". There are two busses from the train station stopping right in front of the institute (1,90€):
Line Destination Exit
8 Weende/Ost Goldschmidtstraße
12 Holtenser Berg Goldschmidtstraße
the bus stop is on your right hand side when you leave the train station through the exit towards the city centre. The Goldschmidtstraße bus stop is right at the side of the physics faculty building. Take the main entrance and proceed to aisle D, which is where the II. Institute of Physiks ("II. Physikalisches Insitut") is located.
The taxi from the main train station will be about 10€.
by car: Göttingen lies at the Autobahn A7 (Hannover-Kassel). Take the exit 72 (Göttingen Nord) and follow the road past the intersection. Take a right exit (Robert-Koch-Straße/Klinikum/Nord-Uni) just before an overpass and then turn left. After crossing the overpass, take the first right on Goldschmidtstraße. You will see the Physics Faculty on the left.
For complete route calculation, see Google Maps.
Note that Google Maps still has the old street name (Tammannstraße) instead of Friedrich-Hund-Platz.
