Ion beam and nuclear solid state physics

Welcome to the web pages of the ion beam and nuclear solid state physics group. Our research has a long tradition at the University of Göttingen, featuring numerous accelerator and analysis facilities nowadays. Ion Accelerators

    Our institute hosts five different accelerators providing mass selected  ion beams from few eV (electronvolts) to several MeV (Megaelectronvolt) and for most of the elements of the periodic table, including also a few radioactive ion beams. Learn more about our:

          • Proton micro beam for proton beam writing

          • 15N(H,alpha,gamma)12C  nuclear reaction analysis for Hydrogen depth profiling

          • 18O nuclear reaction depth profiling
          • Rutherford Backscattering - Channeling
          • High Resolution Rutherford Backscattering (1-2 nm depth resolution)
      • 10 eV- 60 kV Mass selected UHV ion beam deposition system, sector magnet
          • doping of graphene (10-30 eV B, N, F, P, Se, ...)
          • ion beam deposition of ta-C and c-BN thin films
          • ion irradiation and shallow implantation
      • 15 keV Mass selected HV ion beam system, sector magnet
      • 10 eV- 10 kV  mass selected HV ion beam system from Colutron, Wien filter
